Important Info
If the diagnostic tool shows fault code P0871, the fault could very well be caused by Valve Body wear, and not the Solenoid Block assembly.
The fault code itself implies that the Overdrive Pressure Switch inside the Solenoid Pack has been turned on at an inapproriate time. This does not directly tell the Solenoid Block needs replacing!
A very common cause, for many Chrylser TE, RLE and RFE transmissions, is excesive wear of the Solenoid Switch Valve End Plugs, which are located in the Valve Body. These so called "shuttle valves" move around a lot and as a result they can wear out, causing cross leaks.
We have some repair kits for the Overdrive Pressure Switch Valve available for 62TE / 62AE units. To select the correct kit, measure the outside diameter of the valve spool:
For .420" / 10.7mm OD Valve use A604.VA20 (this requires Tool A604.VA19 and Valve Body Reaming Fixture AG4.VA05)
For .453" / 11.5mm OD Valve use A604.VA16 (this requires Tool A604.VA17 and Valve Body Reaming Fixture AG4.VA05)
