JATCO F3A (JF301H) – 3-speed hydraulic automatic transmission designed for various Mazda, Ford, Mercury, Chevrolet / Geo, Isuzu, Kia and Suzuki vehicles with a transversely mounted engine and front-wheel drive (FWD). This transmission family was introduced in the early 1980s and was widely used in small and compact cars.
The transmission uses a torque converter, planetary gear sets and a hydraulic control system that provides automatic shifting of the three forward gears. Thanks to its compact design, the F3A was adapted to vehicles from different manufacturers; however, housings, filters and other components may differ between individual variants.
