JATCO JR300H – a 3-speed hydromechanical automatic transmission developed by the Japanese manufacturer JATCO, produced from 1971 and designed for vehicles with longitudinally mounted engines and rear-wheel drive. It is one of the first automatic transmissions developed by JATCO and was widely used in classic Nissan/Datsun cars as well as in various Mazda models.
The transmission uses a hydrodynamic torque converter, two planetary gear sets, multi-plate clutches, a brake band and a hydraulic control unit. In early versions, gear shifting is controlled by a mechanical-hydraulic system that responds to engine load and vehicle speed. Later modifications of this transmission family adopted a torque converter lock-up mechanism (lock-up), which helps reduce energy losses when driving at a constant speed.

Alternative and related designations:
- JATCO: JR300H, JR300-H
- Nissan / Datsun: 3N71B
- Related modifications: 3N71A, L3N71B (version with torque converter lock-up).
Vehicle model examples (application depends on production year, engine, market and the specific transmission modification):
- Nissan / Datsun: 240Z (S30, 1971–1973); 260Z (S30, 1974–1978); 280Z (S30, 1975–1978); 280ZX (S130, 1978–1983); 200SX / Silvia (S10, S110, approx. 1975–1983); 210 / Sunny (B310, 1978–1982); 610 / 180B (1972–1977); 710 (1973–1977); 810 / Maxima (1977–1982); 620 Pickup (1972–1979); 720 Pickup (1980–1985).

- Nissan Laurel: C130 (1972–1977), C230 (1977–1980) and certain C31 (1980–1983) automatic versions.
- Mazda: 616 (1971–1978); 808 / 818 (1972–1977); RX-2 (1971–1974); RX-3 (1972–1977); RX-4 (1974–1978); RX-7 I (SA/FB, early automatic versions); 626 I (CB, 1978–1982); 929 (early generations); B-Series pickups (certain 1970–1980 automatic versions).
- Ford: Courier (Mazda-based pickup, approx. 1973–1982, certain automatic versions).
Important: The JR300H / 3N71B transmission family uses different modifications of the hydraulic control, torque converter, clutches and housing. Components of the 3N71A, 3N71B and L3N71B versions are not always interchangeable. The later 4N71B is a four-speed transmission and should not be considered a direct equivalent of the JR300H. Before ordering spare parts, be sure to check the vehicle's VIN, exact transmission code and original OE number.
